Surveillance software is sadly getting much more common.  I was shocked to read that Webroot Software Inc., a company that makes Internet security software, estimates that 7% of all computers are infected with keystroke loggers.

Keystroke loggers, also known as keyloggers and keylogging, secretly record every keystroke that the unsuspecting computer user makes.  Pretty scary eh?

Did you know that keystroke loggers can record your passwords, emails, credit card number, etc?  Armed with this info a crook can steal your identity and you can become yet another victim of identity theft, one of the fastest growing crimes on Canada and the USA.  In fact, iDefense reports that keylogging programs are an increasingly popular among ID thieves.

It is easy to detect and remove hardware keystroke loggers. Simply check the keyboard cable where it connects to your PC, to see if there is a small cylinder between the end of the cable and the computer.  If there is, turn off your PC, remove the cylinder, and reconnect the keyboard cable. Easy eh?
